Let’s talk about equality. Real equality. Not the bumper-sticker kind. Not the kind that gets wheeled out when it benefits one group and quietly parked in the garage when it doesn’t. The kind that looks at every human being, regardless of sex, and says: your pain matters too.

Because here’s the uncomfortable truth that American feminism, particularly its loudest institutional voices, does not want you sitting with:

They are not fighting for equality. They are fighting for preference and calling it progress.

And the men paying the price? They are tired of being told to sit down and wait their turn for a turn that never comes.

The Suicide Conversation They Keep Getting Wrong

Let’s start with one of the most intellectually dishonest deflections in modern gender discourse.

When advocates raise the alarm that men die by suicide at nearly four times the rate of women — the CDC puts the ratio at 3.8 to 1, the reflexive feminist response is not empathy. It is not “you’re right, that’s a crisis.” It is a pivot: “But women attempt more.”

Let’s be very clear about why that argument is both factually flawed and morally bankrupt.

Completions and attempts are not the same data set. You cannot equate them. A person who has attempted suicide three times appears in attempt statistics three times. Research consistently shows that the average person who survives a suicide attempt will attempt multiple times across their lifetime, meaning the attempt numbers are significantly inflated by repeated events involving the same individuals. You are not counting three different women. You are often counting one woman’s three separate moments of crisis recorded independently in the data.

More importantly: attempts represent a chance to intervene. When someone attempts and survives, we can help them. When someone completes, when a man puts a gun to his head in a rural county because he has been stripped of his children, his identity, and his sense of purpose, there is no second chance. There is no intervention. There is a funeral.

To weaponize attempt statistics as a counter-argument to male suicide completions is not advocacy. It is deflection. And every man who dies while that argument is being made is proof of what that deflection costs.

Offices, Billions of Dollars, and Men Aren’t on the Agenda

Here is something American feminism never puts on a protest sign.

The federal government currently operates at least 10 dedicated women’s health offices and committees embedded across agencies including HHS, the CDC, the NIH, the FDA, the Department of Labor, and the White House, plus additional women’s policy offices at nearly every cabinet-level department. These offices collectively direct billions of dollars in funding, research grants, and programming specifically toward women’s health and advancement.

Now name the equivalent federal infrastructure dedicated exclusively to men’s health at the same scale.

You can’t — because it does not exist. There is no Office on Men’s Health. There is no federal Men’s Health Initiative with comparable funding. Men are an afterthought in the very system that their tax dollars fund.

Meanwhile, men sit at the top of the list for nine out of ten leading causes of premature death in this country. Men die earlier. Men suffer more silently. Men are told that seeking help is weakness, and then denied the systemic infrastructure that would make help accessible even if they sought it.

This is not a conspiracy. It is a documented, structural imbalance in who our institutions have decided deserves dedicated resources. And it happened, let’s be clear, through decades of organized political will and advocacy by the same feminist institutional machine that now insists gender equality has not yet been achieved for women.

The Voting Power Argument They Never Want to Have

Here is the argument that makes feminist activists change the subject faster than almost anything else:

Women have held the majority of voting power in this country for decades.

Women have outvoted men in every presidential election since 1964. Women represent the majority of registered voters in the United States. Women, as a voting bloc, have had the collective power to remove every single man in elected office that they claim is perpetuating their oppression.

But that removal has not happened, because most women do not actually agree with the most radical strands of feminist ideology. Most women love the men in their lives. Most women want their sons, brothers, husbands, and fathers treated with dignity. Most women understand that a system that fails men ultimately fails families.

The feminist movement does not speak for all women. It never has. It speaks for a specific, self-selected cohort, largely academic, largely urban, largely ideologically uniform, and it has leveraged the language of collective womanhood to demand resources and political influence on behalf of that narrow group, while routinely ignoring or actively dismissing the women who don’t fit the mold.

The Numbers They Don’t Put on Protest Signs

Since we are talking about facts, let’s lay them out plainly:

• Workplace fatalities: Men account for over 93% of all workplace deaths in the United States. Men are approximately 9 to 10 times more likely to die in a workplace accident than women, according to both a 2025 PubMed study and Bureau of Labor Statistics data. When is the last time you saw a feminist march demanding OSHA reform to protect male workers?

• Sentencing disparity: A University of Michigan Law School study tracking cases from arrest through sentencing found that men receive sentences more than 60% longer than women for equivalent crimes — a disparity larger than the racial sentencing gap. Even the U.S. Sentencing Commission’s more conservative methodology, which measures only the final sentence without accounting for charging and plea-bargaining decisions, still finds women receive sentences nearly 30% shorter than men for comparable offenses. Either way — it’s a documented, undeniable gap that receives a fraction of the advocacy attention it deserves.

• Prison programs: Women represent approximately 7 to 9% of the total U.S. prison population, yet they receive a disproportionately large share of parenting support programs, mental health resources, and re-entry services. Male prisoners, the overwhelming majority of incarcerated parents — are largely left without comparable programming despite being the ones who need it most by sheer volume.

• Male homelessness: Men make up approximately 60% of the total homeless population in the United States according to HUD’s most recent Point-in-Time Count, and among single adults experiencing homelessness (not family units), that percentage climbs significantly higher. Where is the sustained feminist campaign for homeless men?

• Education: Boys are now significantly less likely to graduate high school, attend college, or earn a bachelor’s degree than their female peers. The gap is widening every year. Where is the federal initiative — with a dedicated office and billions in funding, to close that gap?

Every one of these is a documented, measurable crisis. And the institutional feminist response to each one is either silence, dismissal, or a redirect back to women’s issues.

VAWA, the Duluth Model, and the Violence They Won’t Acknowledge

The Violence Against Women Act has been repeatedly reauthorized and, on paper, amended to use gender-neutral language. But the programming it funds, the training it requires, and the ideology it promotes still flows heavily through the Duluth Model, a framework developed in the 1980s that defines domestic violence as a tool of male power and control by definition.

Under the Duluth Model, a woman who is violent toward her male partner is still often framed as a victim responding to systemic oppression. A man who is a victim of female-perpetrated abuse is, at worst, treated as the perpetrator, and at best, ignored. Research by Dr. Murray Straus and others has long established that domestic violence is roughly equal in initiation rates between men and women in heterosexual relationships, and that male victims are significantly less likely to report, seek help, or be believed.

Men who call domestic violence hotlines have been laughed at. Men who show up to shelters are turned away. Men who try to file protective orders face a system designed, structurally and culturally, to disbelieve them.

And the feminist institutional response? Protect the Duluth Model. Protect the funding. Protect the narrative.

The Women Who Dare to Disagree

Perhaps the most revealing thing about modern American feminist activism is not what it ignores about men, it is what it does to women who refuse to go along.

These self-proclaimed champions of women’s safety will dox, harass, brigade, and professionally destroy any woman who dares to say: “Wait, men’s issues matter too.” Women who advocate for fathers’ rights. Women who question feminist statistics. Women who support their sons publicly. Women who vote differently. Women who walk away from the movement.

They are not welcomed as independent thinkers. They are treated as traitors. And the harassment they receive from feminist activists would be front-page news — if the harassers were men.

This is not a movement built on solidarity. It is a movement built on conformity. And any ideology that requires your silence to survive is not fighting for your freedom.

What Real Equality Looks Like

Real equality does not pick a lane. It does not celebrate male workplace deaths as an acceptable trade-off for female advancement. It does not shrug at a male suicide epidemic while funding female mental health campaigns. It does not build a vast federal infrastructure for one sex and almost nothing for the other and call that justice.

Real equality says: when men are in pain, that matters. When boys are falling behind, that matters. When fathers are stripped of their children by a biased family court system, that matters. When men are dying — at work, by their own hands, in prisons that offer them nothing — that matters.

You cannot claim to want equality and then go silent every time the scoreboard shows men losing.

Men are not the problem to be solved. They are half of the human race. And they deserve advocates who will say that out loud — without adding “but what about women” before the sentence is finished.

It is time to stop asking for permission to care about men.

And in the meantime, remember, in the midst of chaos, sparkle. Don’t let life dull your shine.

For years, fathers across Mississippi have walked into chancery courtrooms with hope in their hearts and left with every-other-weekend on their calendars.

Not because they were unfit. Not because they were absent. Not because they were dangerous. Simply because the system, built on assumptions that belong to a different era, still treats dads as the secondary parent by default. That era may finally be ending.

On April 1, 2026, Mississippi lawmakers sent House Bill 1662 to Governor Tate Reeves for his signature. The bill would create a rebuttable presumption of joint custody with equal parenting time in all divorce and custody cases in the state. If Reeves signs it, chancery judges would be required to start from a position of 50/50, and depart from it only when the evidence demands.

This is a big deal. And for fathers who have been fighting this fight for years, it cannot come soon enough.

The Albright Problem

Mississippi custody decisions have long been guided by the Albright factors; a 12-point rubric that courts use to determine the “best interest of the child.” On paper, it sounds thorough and neutral. In practice? Fathers know the truth.

Despite that neutral-sounding framework, mothers receive primary physical custody in the overwhelming majority of cases. Fathers are handed alternating weekends. They are treated not as parents, but as visitors in their own children’s lives.

The framework was designed to be fair. The outcomes have not been.

That is gender bias, not always intentional, not always malicious, but systemic, measurable, and devastating to the fathers and children it affects. HB 1662 attacks that bias at its root by changing the starting point, not just the rulebook.

What Equal Really Means

Critics of HB 1662 argue it is a rigid, one-size-fits-all solution. It is not. The presumption is rebuttable — meaning any parent can present evidence to show why equal time is not in their child’s best interest. Judges retain full authority to deviate when the facts require it. The bill also explicitly exempts cases where a domestic violence protection order has been entered.

What it does change is who carries the burden of proof. Right now, fathers must fight to prove they deserve equal access to their children. Under HB 1662, that burden shifts. Equal time becomes the floor, not the ceiling.

That is not radical. That is rational.

The Evidence Is on Fathers’ Side

The fight for equal parenting is not just about fairness to dads; it is about what the research consistently shows is best for kids.

• Children with actively involved fathers show better emotional regulation, academic performance, and social development.

• Child support compliance is higher in shared parenting arrangements, because parents who remain engaged act like it.

• Five states, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia, Florida, and Missouri, already use a rebuttable presumption of equal parenting time, and those states have not seen the catastrophic outcomes critics predicted.

• Roughly 20 states already award near-equal time in many cases, even without a statutory presumption. Mississippi is not being asked to take a radical leap; it is being asked to catch up.

Modern Dads Deserve Modern Law

This is not the “Leave It to Beaver” era. Today’s fathers show up. They coach the teams, pack the lunches, sit in the carpool line, and know their children’s teachers by name. They are not weekend guests in their kids’ lives, they are parents. Fully present, fully capable, and too often fully dismissed by a family court system that never updated its assumptions.

HB 1662 does not guarantee equal custody in every case. It guarantees that every father walks into the courtroom on equal footing. That is all most dads have ever asked for, not an advantage, just a fair start.

Governor Reeves has the power to make Mississippi the next state to say: both parents matter, both parents count, and both parents deserve a real relationship with their children.

You showed up on Saturday. You held a sign. You felt the energy of thousands of people around you, and for a moment it felt like something real, something democratic, something urgent, something yours. The rallies felt electric. The chants echoed off downtown buildings, and for a moment, everyone believed they were part of something authentic, the will of the people rising up in real time. Yet the truth behind the scene was quieter, colder, and infinitely more organized.

But here’s a question worth sitting with: where did that sign come from?

The posters weren’t hand-drawn. They were pre-printed, bundled, and shipped to distribution points across the country well before the rallying cry went viral. Researchers tracking the organizational footprint of the protests identified hundreds of distinct groups involved in coordinating turnout, messaging, and logistics. Those signs, they were printed before you decided to show up. In fact, it was printed before most people knew there was anything to show up for. Those glossy placards weren’t scrawled in parking lots with Sharpies. They were mass-produced, shipped in advance, and by the time you decided you were angry, someone else had already printed your outrage for you.

That is not a movement. That is a machine.

Beneath the Surface of “Spontaneity”

The “No Kings” protests that swept across the country in early 2025 were framed in every major outlet as a spontaneous, grassroots response to executive overreach. In theory, a grassroots movement is supposed to bubble up from ordinary citizens. In practice, the “No Kings” moment arose from an intricate web of nonprofits, political action groups, and media partners. In fact, more than 500 organizations with a combined revenue estimated in the billions funded your voice.

That’s not spontaneity; it’s choreography.

Real uprisings don’t move in single-phrase slogans. They’re messy, divided, and unpredictable. But what happened here was synchronized. The message was standardized. The outrage had been packaged before anyone hit the streets. You were walking into capitalistic infrastructure, not revolution.

Compare this to the genuine grassroots eruptions of the past, the early Tea Party rallies in 2009 and 2010, which were notably disorganized, inconsistent in messaging, and largely self-funded by people who had never organized anything in their lives. Grassroots movements are messy. They contradict themselves. They show up with misspelled signs and competing agendas.

What Tyranny Isn’t

The slogans warned that tyranny had arrived. But look carefully at your surroundings. Tyranny is when a critic disappears for a tweet, when opposition newspapers shut down overnight, and when the wrong joke lands you in a cell. None of that is happening here. The word “king” was chosen carefully. It bypasses analysis and goes straight to emotion, to every middle school history lesson about the American Revolution, to every story about arbitrary power and divine right and unaccountable rule.

The United States operates under a constitutional republic with three co-equal branches of government, each designed with mechanisms to check the others. The executive branch enforces law but cannot write it unilaterally without consequence. The judiciary reviews executive action and has done so repeatedly in recent years, with courts at every level issuing injunctions against policies from both Republican and Democratic administrations. The legislative branch holds the power of the purse and can override the executive with sufficient votes.

Elections happen on fixed schedules. Presidential terms are capped at two by the 22nd Amendment. The sitting president does not appoint his own successor. Well, except if you’re Joe Biden/ The press, every major outlet, cable network, and social media platform, spent years running wall-to-wall coverage characterizing the sitting president as a fascist, a dictator, and an existential threat to democracy. Those journalists still have jobs. Those outlets are still broadcasting. No one has been arrested for calling the president a fascist.

That is not tyranny. Tyranny does not allow you to rehearse chants against it in a public park.

Real tyranny looks like what happened to Alexei Navalny; poisoned, imprisoned, and killed. It looks like what happened to journalists in China, in Iran, in Venezuela: disappeared, silenced, or made into examples. It looks like the Gulag. It looks like the Cultural Revolution.

It does not look like a country where the opposition party holds a third of federal power, where courts routinely rule against the president, and where dissent is not merely tolerated but professionally rewarded.

That’s is not oppression; it is performance.

Longevity Is the Real Power

If you want to see where authority actually lodges itself, look not at who gets shouted down online, look at who never leaves. Decade after decade, the same names keep surfacing, even as administrations change.

Consider a short list of career fixtures in federal power:

• Steny Hoyer: forty-plus years of uninterrupted service.

• Maxine Waters: more than three decades of incumbency.

• Chuck Schumer: entered Congress before most of today’s college activists were born.

• Nancy Pelosi: seated in 1987, shaping leadership roles for nearly four decades.

• Mitch McConnell: in office since the 1980s, wielding influence through both majority and minority status.

• Bernie Sanders: first elected to Congress when Reagan was president.

• Pat Leahy and Dianne Feinstein (before her death in 2023) each served over half a lifetime in the Senate.

• Lindsey Graham and Richard Durbin — both fixtures since the Clinton years.

These comparisons are not meant to equate American politicians with historical dictators in terms of conduct. They are meant to illustrate a simple point: entrenched, decades-long institutional power is the definition of an established ruling class. Measured against world history, many of these tenures outlasted entire monarchies. The rhetoric warns about kings, but entrenched political classes are dynasties by another name, just elected at reliable intervals.

If you are worried about the concentration of power, the question worth asking is: why are you focused on the disruptor and not the system he disrupted? The outsider who enters a long-calcified political structure and creates chaos is not, historically, the same threat as the institutions that have held and shaped power for generations. One of them built the machine. The other is fighting with it.

The Queen’s Coronation Nobody Mentioned

And yet when a seismic moment of actual “crowning” took place, the silence was deafening.

When President Biden bowed out of the 2024 race, the Democratic establishment moved with astonishing speed. Within days, Vice President Kamala Harris was effectively installed as the presumptive nominee without a single primary vote being cast. There was no meaningful contest. There was no debate among competing candidates. There was no ballot through which Democratic voters could express a preference. Major donors consolidated almost overnight. Party infrastructure aligned within 72 hours. Endorsements poured in en masse before any deliberation could occur.

The people who had spent years arguing that democratic process was sacred, that every vote must count, that the will of the people must be respected, watched a candidate be crowned by party elites and institutional donors, and they cheered.

No one cried that a queen had been crowned. The same people decrying monarchy cheered the pageantry when it served their side.

The contradiction wasn’t subtle; it was televised.

The Document Problem

Just days before those marches, proposals for expanded voter ID were shouted down as “voter suppression.” The argument relied on principle. Citizens shouldn’t have to prove their status to exercise a right.
But in the very recent COVID era, Americans couldn’t attend a concert, eat indoors, or return to work without showing paperwork. Medical proof was required to exist in public spaces.

Let that land. You needed proof to eat. But proof to vote is oppression.

Yet when the documentation supported a favored policy, it wasn’t oppression, it was responsibility. Now, the same gestures are painted as tyranny.

Identity checks for employment? Acceptable.
Identity checks for voting? Impossible.

That’s not fairness; that’s convenience masquerading as morality.

For the record: virtually every functioning democracy on Earth requires some form of identification to vote. Canada requires ID. Germany requires ID. France requires ID. Mexico, a country frequently cited by American progressives as having greater economic inequality, requires a national voter ID card that the government provides for free. The idea that identification requirements are uniquely American voter suppression has no basis in comparative democratic practice.

Invisible Arithmetic

This one requires a little more patience, because it operates below the level of daily news.

The U.S. Census is conducted every ten years. Census data determines congressional apportionment, how many House seats each state receives. More seats mean more Electoral College votes. It is, quite literally, the mathematical foundation of political representation in America.

The Census counts all residents, not just citizens. This is a long-standing practice with legitimate historical and administrative rationale, and the Supreme Court addressed the core question in Department of Commerce v. New York (2019), blocking the Trump administration’s attempt to add a citizenship question, though notably on procedural rather than constitutional grounds.

Here is the practical consequence: states with large non-citizen populations, legal permanent residents, visa holders, and undocumented immigrants, receive more congressional representation than their citizen population alone would generate. California, for example, retains more House seats than it would if apportionment were based solely on citizen population. Those seats come at the expense of states with smaller non-citizen populations, many of which trend politically conservative.

This is not a conspiracy theory. It is arithmetic. The Census Bureau publishes the numbers. The apportionment formula is public. Anyone can run the math.

You don’t need a crown to accumulate power. You need a methodology.

Coordinated Speech, Soft Censorship

In July 2023, federal judge Terry Doughty issued a preliminary injunction in Missouri v. Biden, later renamed Murthy v. Missouri, blocking several federal agencies from communicating with social media platforms to suppress content. The ruling described what he found as “the most massive attack against free speech in United States history.”

The case documented years of direct communication between officials at the FBI, the CDC, the Surgeon General’s office, the State Department, and the White House with executives at Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The communications were not limited to illegal content or documented misinformation. They included requests to suppress:

• The Hunter Biden laptop story, which major platforms labeled as potential “hack-and-leak” disinformation in October 2020 and suppressed in the weeks before the presidential election. The laptop’s contents were later verified as authentic by The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other outlets that had initially dismissed or ignored the story.

• Discussion of COVID-19’s potential origins, including the lab leak hypothesis, which was flagged as dangerous speculation by government officials and suppressed on multiple platforms. By 2023, the FBI, Department of Energy, and CIA had all assessed lab origin as at least plausible, with the FBI assigning it moderate-to-high confidence.

• Posts questioning the efficacy of masks and vaccine mandates, including posts by licensed physicians sharing peer-reviewed research that contradicted official guidance.

• Satire and parody, yes, humor. Accounts making jokes about public health messaging were flagged as potential vectors of vaccine hesitancy.

The Supreme Court ultimately ruled in Murthy v. Missouri (2024) that the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue, which meant the merits were not directly adjudicated. But the underlying documentary record, the emails, the Slack messages, the internal communications, is real, public, and detailed.

Government officials pressuring private corporations to suppress speech is a form of censorship that doesn’t require a state-run media apparatus. It requires a phone call and a LinkedIn connection. And what administration was behind most of it? Not the alleged “King” in power.

Parent or State?

Across the country, beginning roughly in 2019 and accelerating through 2022 and 2023, public school systems in dozens of states implemented policies permitting, and in some cases requiring, school staff to affirm a student’s expressed gender identity without notifying parents. Some policies explicitly prohibited staff from informing parents if a child had begun socially transitioning at school.

The legal battles over these policies have been fierce and ongoing. Organizations like the ACLU have argued that parental notification requirements violate student privacy. Parental rights groups have argued that school systems are making consequential decisions about children’s psychological and developmental welfare while deliberately excluding the people legally responsible for those children.

Whatever your position on the underlying policy, the dynamic is worth naming: an institution substituting its judgment for a parent’s in matters that directly affect a child’s health and development, and doing so without transparency or consent, is a structural assertion of state authority over family.

That is not a conservative talking point. That is a description of what the policies literally do.

Historically, every system that has sought to expand state control over population has eventually targeted the family as a competing source of loyalty and authority. You don’t have to believe we’re living in that system to notice when a policy fits the pattern.

History offers countless examples of where that trajectory ends, and none of them look like liberation.

Double Standards Everywhere

In the summer of 2020, protests, riots, and unrest spread to cities across the United States following the death of George Floyd. The scale of the violence was documented extensively: an estimated $1–2 billion in property damage, more than 700 law enforcement officers injured in the first weeks, at least 19 deaths during the unrest in the first two weeks alone.

Many of those events were described by major media outlets and elected officials as “mostly peaceful” even as fires burned in the background of live broadcasts. In Portland, Oregon, federal buildings were attacked nightly for months. In Minneapolis, a police precinct was abandoned and burned. In Seattle, a multi-block area was seized by protesters who declared it an “autonomous zone” for several weeks.

The official response from many Democratic mayors and governors was to restrict police response, reduce law enforcement budgets, and in some cases decline to prosecute individuals arrested during the unrest.

At the same time, in March 2020, those same cities and states were enforcing emergency orders that: closed churches (an action challenged in the Supreme Court in Tandon v. Newsom and South Bay United Pentecostal Church v. Newsom), prohibited families from gathering in private homes, shut down small businesses while allowing large retailers to remain open, and in several cases prevented family members from being present with dying relatives in hospitals.

A small business owner who violated a capacity restriction faced fines and potential closure. An organized group that burned a building faced, in many jurisdictions, charges that were later dropped.

One standard for one kind of activity. A completely different standard for another.

When law is applied selectively based on political content, that is not a functioning legal system. That is power deciding what counts, which is, if we’re using the vocabulary of the protest, exactly what kings do.

Selective punishment is not justice; it’s strategy.

Laws bent for favored causes. Rules hardened against dissenters.

The Hidden Architects

Among the most visibly organized groups present at the “No Kings” demonstrations was the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a revolutionary socialist organization that does not obscure its goals. The PSL openly advocates for the abolition of capitalism and the U.S. government as currently constituted, and has been involved in organizing protests ranging from anti-war demonstrations to prison abolition events to the 2024 and 2025 protest cycles.

The PSL had signs, marshals, branded materials, and coordinated chants. They were not attending the protest. They were, in significant measure, running logistics for it.

The PSL and several allied organizations have financial ties — direct and indirect — to networks connected to Neville Roy Singham, a tech entrepreneur and billionaire who sold his company ThoughtWorks for over $700 million and subsequently became one of the largest private funders of far-left media and organizing in the United States. Singham now operates primarily from Shanghai.

Investigative reporting by The New York Times in 2023 documented Singham’s funding networks and their connections to Chinese state media. Organizations in his funding network have published and amplified content that closely mirrors Chinese Communist Party messaging on issues including Taiwan, Hong Kong, and U.S. foreign policy. One organization in the network, Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, has produced material co-published by state-linked Chinese entities.

None of this means every person who attended a “No Kings” protest is a Chinese Communist Party asset. That would be absurd. But some of them are, the signage is clear as day. It means the infrastructure of the protest , the organization, the funding, the message architecture, traces back, at least in part, to a billionaire in Shanghai with documented ties to networks that align with a government that is not neutral about American political stability.

You thought you were fighting for democracy. You may have been fighting for someone else’s interests.

So when you carried a “No Kings” sign, the operation behind you might have been far more global and more strategic than it appeared. They might have been fighting for a king or a supreme ruler. Isn’t that exactly why you march to stop that?

When Defenders Forget Their Own Principles

For decades, the American Civil Liberties Union prided itself on one radical standard: free speech means free speech for everyone. Nazis, communists, religious extremists, if they had a right under the First Amendment, the ACLU stood beside them in court. That moral consistency gave the organization credibility even among its adversaries.

In recent years, that logic has visibly eroded. The ACLU has taken positions opposing certain free speech protections, filed amicus briefs supporting platform censorship in specific contexts, and internally debated, per leaked documents, whether some forms of speech cause sufficient harm to warrant restriction. Former ACLU board member Wendy Kaminer and longtime staff attorney Ira Glasser have publicly criticized the organization’s departure from its founding mission. Internal debates and policy reversals revealed a new mood: protecting speech only when it doesn’t cause offense. But once the right to speak depends on someone else’s comfort, it’s no longer a right, it’s permission.

The Moving Goalposts

In 1995, President Bill Clinton delivered his State of the Union address and said, to a standing ovation from both parties: “All Americans, not only in the states most heavily affected, but in every place in this country, are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers. That’s why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more, by hiring a record number of new border guards.”

He also signed the 1994 Crime Bill, which expanded the federal death penalty, added 100,000 police officers to American streets, and introduced mandatory minimum sentencing provisions. He signed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. He declared in 1996 that “the era of big government is over.”

These were not fringe positions. They were the consensus of a moderate-liberal coalition that assumed borders, law enforcement, limited government, and traditional institutions were building blocks of a functional society, things you could debate the edges of, not things you dismantled.

Today, those positions would make Bill Clinton unelectable in a Democratic primary in most major cities. The distance between 1995 Clinton and 2025 Democratic orthodoxy is not a minor course correction. It is a fundamental shift in what the coalition considers acceptable to say out loud.

That shift happened gradually, through institutions, through media framing, through the systematic redefinition of normal positions as extreme ones. It didn’t require a king. It required patience, consistency, and control of the spaces where ideas are formed.

Learning to See the Pattern

If you want to spot creeping control, stop chasing labels and start spotting behaviors. The signs usually look like this:

• Punishing dissent without using explicit law.

• Rewriting rules after the fact to favor those in power.

• Allowing political violence from allies but condemning it from opponents.

• Entrenching ideology in schools, corporations, and media.

• Blurring lines between corporate moderation and government enforcement.

The answer is not comfortable, and it is not as simple as the slogan on the sign they handed you. You can march against crowns all you want, but crowns aren’t required to rule. Sometimes the power wearing no jewels is the hardest to see. A system that controls what you hear, coordinates what you think, funds what you feel, and then hands you a pre-printed sign telling you where to stand, that system does not need a crown.

It just needs you to keep showing up.

You thought you were resisting control. Maybe you were building it. When Kamala Harris became the anointed choice, no one shouted “queen.” Everyone applauded.

That should tell you everything.

Yet, when we look at the statistics in the United States, one alarming trend stands out: men are disproportionately affected by suicide. The suicide rate among men is 4 times higher than that of women, making it an urgent public health crisis that is being ignored by so many. In this blog post, we’ll explore the reasons behind this epidemic, the cultural stigmas that exacerbate the problem, and the steps we can take to support men’s mental health and prevent suicide.

The Alarming Statistics

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), men account for nearly 80% of all suicides in the United States. The suicide rate is particularly high among middle-aged and older men, though it also affects younger males at alarming rates. While suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States overall, it ranks even higher among men aged 15-44.

Why is this happening? The issue is multifaceted, involving societal expectations, cultural stigma, and systemic barriers to accessing mental health support. To address this crisis, it’s crucial to understand these underlying factors and work toward meaningful solutions.

The Pressure of Masculinity and Societal Expectations

One of the most significant barriers to addressing men’s mental health is the concept of traditional masculinity. From a young age, boys are often taught to be tough, stoic, and self-reliant. They are encouraged to suppress their emotions, which can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and despair as they grow older.

Society often imposes unrealistic expectations on men to be providers, protectors, and emotionally resilient figures who do not show vulnerability. Phrases like “man up” and “boys don’t cry” reinforce these harmful stereotypes, making it difficult for men to seek help or express their feelings when they are struggling. As a result, many men suffer in silence, believing that reaching out for support is a sign of weakness.

This cultural stigma surrounding men’s mental health is a critical factor in the suicide epidemic. When men are taught that they must endure hardship alone and that vulnerability is a flaw rather than a strength, they are less likely to seek the help they desperately need.

Mental Health and Access to Care

Despite the growing awareness of mental health issues in recent years, many men still face significant barriers when it comes to accessing care. In the United States, there is a shortage of mental health professionals, and even those who are available may not be adequately trained to address the specific needs of men. Furthermore, men who are struggling may face financial obstacles, lack of insurance coverage, or a reluctance to engage with traditional therapeutic approaches. An additional obstacle for many men is traditional therapy may not feel as effective or approachable as intended. Research continues to suggest that men, who are historically less likely to seek mental health support, often face unique barriers when entering therapeutic spaces designed around principles that may not align with their lived experiences. We will dive into this in a future blog.

Stigma also plays a role in men’s reluctance to seek help. Even when mental health services are available, many men avoid them due to fear of judgment or a belief that they should be able to solve their problems on their own. Furthermore, we have a host of Red Pill Ideology podcast demonizing therapy and telling men just to hit the gym. This lacks an understanding of true mental health issues and keeps men for getting the help they need. This avoidance can lead to self-medicating behaviors, such as substance abuse, which only exacerbate the problem and increase the risk of suicide.

The Role of Economic and Social Factors

Economic and social factors also contribute significantly to the men’s mental health crisis. Unemployment, financial stress, and relationship breakdowns are known risk factors for suicide. Men are often expected to fulfill the role of the primary breadwinner, and when they are unable to meet these expectations, they may feel a profound sense of failure and shame. This emotional distress can lead to depression and, in severe cases, suicidal ideation.

Additionally, men may lack strong social support networks compared to women. Studies have shown that men are less likely to confide in friends or family members about their struggles. Instead, they may isolate themselves, feeling as though they have no one to turn to for support. This isolation can be deadly, as having strong social connections is one of the most important protective factors against suicide.

Addressing the Crisis: What Can We Do?

To effectively combat the men’s mental health crisis and reduce the suicide rate, we need to take a comprehensive approach that addresses cultural, systemic, and individual factors. Here are some key steps that can make a difference:

1. Challenge Cultural Norms Around Masculinity
   We need to redefine what it means to be a man. Promoting a culture where men feel comfortable expressing their emotions and seeking help when needed is crucial. Campaigns and educational programs that emphasize that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness, can go a long way in reducing stigma.

2. Expand Access to Mental Health Services
   Ensuring that men have access to affordable, high-quality mental health care is essential. This includes increasing funding for mental health services, training professionals to understand men’s unique needs, and providing more support groups specifically for men.

3. Encourage Open Conversations
   Community programs, workplaces, and social media campaigns can encourage men to open up about their struggles. Creating safe spaces where men can talk about their mental health without fear of judgment is critical in normalizing these conversations.

4. Build Strong Social Support Networks
   Strengthening social connections for men is a protective factor against suicide. Programs that promote camaraderie, such as men’s groups, mentorship programs, and community activities, can help men develop meaningful relationships and support systems.

5. Provide Resources and Crisis Support
   Raising awareness about available resources, such as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988), can help men access immediate support when they need it. Crisis lines and mental health apps tailored for men can also provide anonymous, convenient options for those hesitant to seek face-to-face help.

We live in a world where everything a man does or says is seen as wrong by some women out there. Even the best of men are confused, belittled and frustrated. They don’t know which way to turn or which actions are allowed. Around every corner is a toxic feminist screaming that good men are misogynists simply for existing in this world as men. Can you imagine being yelled at for opening a door? Or pulling out a chair? Or smiling and saying “Hi,” to a women in a grocery store? Well nearly half the men that I know have experienced just that. Then there is the other side of the road where good women expects those same behaviors from a man and think he is rude if he does not do them. They are damned if they do and they are damned if they don’t.

Just last week, I was walking up to a CVS to grab some things and there was a man approaching the door. As soon as he saw me coming, he reached for the door, glance at me awkwardly and said, “Oh, I’m sorry miss, is it okay if I open the door for you?” What? Is it okay? Why did this man feel the need to ask permission to be kind? It is more than okay. It is sweet, courteous and appreciated. The fact that this man felt the need to ask if he could do something kind says so much about the world we live in. It says so much about how men are treated and made to feel.

THE GREAT DOOR DEBATE!

Why is this even an issue or a debate. Should a man open the door for a lady? Is this an okay thing to do? Well you would think that the answer would be a simple yes. Well, you would be thinking wrong. In the age of strong, independent women that don’t need no man, they want to open doors themselves. They don’t want a man doing it for them. They consider it an insult. It’s as if a man opening a door for a women is him saying she is incapable.

Some women have taken their independence so far that they can’t even view a gesture of common courtesy for what it is. They have perverted it to be something misogynistic and dirty.

“He only opened the door so that he could check out my ass once I walked in front of him. Pervert.”

“What? Does he think that I can’t even open the door myself?“

“He only does it for the praise, not because he actually wants to.”

“He only opens the door so that people think he is a good guy, we know the truth.”

I have heard every single one of those things said by a women. I have been told more stories by men about being yelled at for opening a door or pulling out a chair than I care to mention. I have witnessed a woman refusing to enter a building because a man was holding the door. Feminism was meant to give women equal opportunity and the ability to be independent. It was never meant to give us permission to be rude bitches. It’s a door. It has to be open. It is common courtesy for the first person who gets to the door to hold it open for the next person. Why is this so hard? Why has this become a thing?

LET THE MAN OPEN THE DOOR!!!

Look, I get it. Some of us have trauma from our past that makes us feel uncomfortable when a man follows too closely behind us. That trauma is real and those fears exist. I have experienced them myself. There is a simple solution. Don’t scream at him. Don’t be rude. Just reach for the door handle and say, “Thank you, I’ve got it.” It’s a door. No one is assuming you can’t do it yourself. No one is attempting to belittle you by opening it. If I arrive at a door and see people closely following, I hold it for them. It does not matter if it is a man, women, non-binary, child or alien, I hold the door. It it about kindness and common courtesy.

Now, to the men, I know that it is also common courtesy to say, “Thank you,” when someone does something nice for you. As I have demonstrated above, common courtesy seems to be lacking in today’s world. Remember, just because you opened the door, does not mean someone owes you a thank you. It’s polite to say it but it is not a requirement. If someone does not thank you, do not be rude or harsh. It just confirms some women’s feeling about men. Some toxic women believe men do not deserve appreciation. They are wrong. Don’t feed into their hate. Just commit their face to memory and know they are rude and not deserving of your kindness. Should you see them again in the future pretend they don’t exist. They are not worth your effort. Rude people exist, do not let them ruin your day. Don’t not let them get a reaction out of you. They get joy from that reaction. You are better than them. Karma has a way of working things out.

A few years ago, my previous boss came to work complaining about a women at the gas station. He said they had both gotten out of their cars and arrived at the door at the same time. He grabbed the door, opened it, stood back, smiled and gestured her in, with a wave of his hand. She scowled at him and sternly said, “You’re proud of yourself, aren’t you? You know, women can open doors too.” He was irritated by the entire situation. My boss was a good man with a servant heart. We began focusing on our project at hand and started prepping for a day of interviews for a new position in our department. The first few interviews where fine, but on interview number three, karma knocked on the conference room. Based on her resume, she was the best and brightest candidates lined up for the day. We had already decided that she was the women for the job. She has a track record of career success and am amazing portfolio.

As soon as she walked in the room my bosses face went flat. She reached out to shake his hand and he just looked at her blankly. Without offering his hand, he said, “You know, a glowing resume and immaculate portfolio do not overshadow the content of someone’s character. We appreciate you coming in today but I we will not be accepting your application. You can show yourself to the door.” He turned and walked away from us, leave me standing their awkwardly wondering what was going on. I was so confused. As soon as she exited the room, my boss informed me that she was the rude women from the gas station. She met karma that day. I hope she learned a lesson. You never know if the person you decided to be rude to will become the person that will decide your fate. She missed out on an amazing job over someone opening a door for her.

The great door debate is so much more than doors. It’s pulling out chairs and walking towards the outside of the road. It’s lifting heaving things and taking out the trash. It’s all the traditional gestures that so many good women find endearing in men. Do not let these independent bitches change you. We like you just the way you are. And to the women that degrade men for these things, please stop. Your are ruining good men. You are taking away the actions that so many of us adore. You don’t have to let a man do things for you but don’t ruin it for those of us who enjoy when they do. There is no need to yell at a man who is just trying to be nice.

This world needs a little more kindness. It needs a few more doors to be opened and smiles to be offered from total strangers. It seems to me that society is getting angrier by the day and the gender divide is only getting worse. Where will we be in 10 years? 20 years? 50 year? I wish I knew. I hope it get better. Until then, be safe, be courteous, be kind and always remember, in the midst of chaos, sparkle. Don’t let life dull your shine.

Being an advocate for men is not a popular path to take. Men are seen as privileged in our society. Men are seen as protector and providers. Men are seen as tough and strong. Men are so much more. Men have emotions and struggles and disadvantages that are unique to them. Men need to be seen. Men need to be heard. Men need support and love and appreciation. Men deserve a voice. Men deserve a safe space. Men matter too.

When ask why I advocate for men, the answer seem so simple to me. Yet, it is so inconceivable to so many that the sex that they perceive as privileged would need advocates. That is all the more reason to advocate for men. Perceived privilege blinds people to the disadvantages faced by men. If people with privilege did not struggles or have disadvantages, then tell me why some of the most successful people in the world have taken their own lives? Because in their privilege, no one looked long enough to see them struggle. No one thought they could. No one realized they needed a voice, an ear or a helping hand. This is the story for so many men.

While the world sees men as privileged, the disadvantages they face are overlooked. Men’s struggles are ignored. Men’s cries for help are dismissed. Men’s voices are not heard. Men are being silenced. Men are being left behind. How long can the world continue to wear blinders and not see the issues that men face?

How long will they ignore the disproportionately high suicide rates in men?

How long will they ignore the disproportionately high workplace deaths in men?

How long will they ignore the disproportionately high imprisonment rates of men?

How long will they ignore the disproportionately high homelessness in men?

How long will they ignore the disproportionately high rate of murders of men?

Some men are walking away from dating, relationship, marriage and women all together. Some men are walking away from being the protectors of women. Some men are walking away from traditional gestures like opening doors and carrying heavy things. Some men are walking away from standing side-by-side with women to fight for women’s issues. Some men are walking away…

Some men are choosing to fight back. They’re choosing to stand up. They’re choosing to speak loudly. They’re pleading for their voices to be heard. And what happens? They’re called misogynists. Worse yet, they are called dangerous and angry, and they are feared by women. They are considered a danger to society and a danger to women just for speaking out on the disadvantages that they face in society. As they beg for a fraction of the resources given to women, their viewed as monsters. They are asking for the world to see that men are victims too. They just want men to have support too. They just want to be heard.

With society continually ignoring the voices of men, and attempting to silence them at every turn, it’s no wonder they are getting angry. It’s no wonder they are getting loud. Feminists scream and yell and march in the streets about the disadvantages that women face, and that is seen as acceptable. Yet when a man makes a simple TikTok video, he is seen as a danger to society. When do we stop the double standards? When do we hear men speak?

When will men be heard? I’m not sure when this happens, but I know it needs to happen. I’m the mother of a 13-year-old son. He will grow up to be a man someday. He will grow up to be on the losing side of these statistics. He will grow up with an increased chance of committing suicide, losing his life at work, being murdered, becoming homeless, losing his kids in Family Court, being financially destroyed by divorce, becoming a victim of domestic violence and having nowhere to turn, having his mental health mocked and invalidated. He will grow up to face the struggles of men in a world that does not want to even recognize these struggles exist. As a mother, that scares the living hell out of me.

It is so obvious that so many women and toxic feminists do not see the struggles of men because they don’t want to see them. If, for one moment, they admit that men have disadvantages too, they also have to admit that the fight for women is not the only fight that should be happening. They would have to stand up and take accountability for the wrongs that they have bestowed upon men and work side-by-side to help men. They would no longer be able to be the victim to a society that is against women. They would lose their victim status and the benefits of that status.

So, as a woman, a mother, and an egalitarian, I have chosen to advocate for men. I have chosen to advocate for a better future for my son. I have learned to accept the hatred that comes with the path I’ve chosen. I have learned that this path is not always a safe one to choose. I have learned that some will stop at nothing to silence a voice supporting men. I have learned that I must follow my heart and do what I feel is right even when a hell of a lot of people disagree with me. I have learned it will ruin friendships and relationships. I have learned that people will walk out of your life. I am learning that this is a lonely path that I have chosen. I have learned that this is my path and I have accepted all the shit that comes along with it. This is my choice and this is my fight; this is my son’s future.

This is all of our son’s futures and it matters.

To the women that stand beside me in this fight for men, I applaud you. I know what you endure. I know the challenges you face and I am proud to stand with you.

To the men that and with me and that I support and the men that support me, thank you. Your voice may get silenced, but myself and so many others see you. We hear you. We will stand with you. We will advocate for men. Your voice matters. Your feelings matter. Your struggles matter. You matter. So as we walk this path together, remember one very important thing, in the midst of chaos, sparkle. Don’t let life dull your shine.

There are moments in public policy when the argument for action is not ideological. It is measurable, human, and urgent. H.R. 7602, the State of Men’s Health Act, is one of those moments. The bill starts with a blunt premise. Men in the United States are experiencing worsening health outcomes, falling behind on prevention, and dying too young. The consequences are not confined to men. Families lose fathers, husbands, sons, and brothers. Communities lose workers, mentors, and volunteers. Governments absorb major downstream costs through disability, chronic disease, and the economic fallout of premature death.

The practical reality is that H.R. 7602 has been referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the committee with primary jurisdiction over much of federal health policy and oversight of the Department of Health and Human Services. That referral is not a footnote. It is the gate. If the bill does not move in Energy and Commerce, it is unlikely to move at all. This is why advocates who care about men’s health, family stability, prevention, and mental health should focus their attention on this committee and its leadership.

What H.R. 7602 does, in plain English

The bill is built around two mechanisms. First, it requires a Government Accountability Office study and a report to Congress on the state of men’s health. Second, it establishes an Office of Men’s Health within the Department of Health and Human Services to coordinate awareness, outreach, and outcomes.

1. A GAO study and report within one year

H.R. 7602 directs the Comptroller General of the United States to complete a study on the state of men’s health in the United States, including U.S. territories, and submit a report to Congress not later than one year after enactment. The report is not vague. It must identify men’s health disparities, describe existing federal programs that could be optimized, recommend additional federal actions, and identify ways to improve coordination across the federal government.

The report must also review efforts to improve male engagement in the health care system, assess the federal research landscape for opportunities where additional investment could catalyze progress, and identify ways to increase public awareness and attention to men’s health research and outcomes.

2. Establish an Office of Men’s Health within HHS within 18 months

The bill amends the Public Health Service Act to require the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish an Office of Men’s Health within 18 months of enactment. The office is designed to coordinate and promote programs to improve men’s health, not to replace existing medical programs. The office’s activities include supporting and coordinating awareness, education, and screening programs, with emphasis on conditions that drive preventable mortality and disability, including colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, and mental health screening for at risk men. The office must also establish and maintain a database of best practices, clinical guidelines, clinical research, and funding opportunities relating to men’s health.

The bill requires the Secretary to submit a report to Congress not later than two years after the Office is established, describing the activities and findings of the office and making recommendations to improve men’s health outcomes.

3. Funding and guardrails

H.R. 7602 does not authorize additional appropriations for the GAO study section, and it does not authorize additional appropriations for the Office of Men’s Health section. It also includes a significant guardrail that prevents funding authorized for the Office on Women’s Health, or any other office of women’s health within HHS, from being used to carry out the Office of Men’s Health provision. This matters for coalition building. It allows supporters to say, accurately and clearly, this bill is not a zero sum fight against women’s health. It is an effort to address gaps in men’s health engagement, prevention, and coordination without diverting resources from women’s health infrastructure.

The bill’s findings, what it says is happening to men’s health

The findings section is the moral engine of the bill and the policy rationale that members of Congress can cite on the record. It paints a picture of a national health problem driven by low prevention and screening engagement, widening life expectancy gaps, mental health and suicide burden, and high mortality from major diseases.

1. Men are dying younger, and the gap is widening

The bill states that men are more at risk for premature death from nine of the top ten causes of death. It highlights that the lifespan gender gap has expanded since 2016, reaching what the bill calls a crisis level. The bill also states that men die at an overall rate 1.4 times higher than women on an age adjusted basis.

2. Men’s health is family health

The findings explicitly note that the crisis is also a concern for women who prematurely lose fathers, husbands, sons, and brothers. It also connects premature mortality to economic vulnerability, including a finding about higher poverty among widows compared to married women in older age. The bill later emphasizes the central role of fathers and the impact of premature death and disability on children.

3. Prevention and early detection are a core problem

The bill attributes rising risks to a lack of education on, awareness of, and pursuit of preventive screening and care. It highlights the value of educating men, families, and clinicians about early detection for conditions including cardiovascular disease, mental health, HIV/AIDS, osteoporosis, and cancers such as lung, prostate, skin, colorectal, and testicular cancer. It cites research showing regular medical exams, preventive screenings, exercise, and healthy eating habits can save lives.

4. Mental health, suicide, and veterans are explicitly included

The findings note concern for the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of returning service members and veterans, particularly in mental health and suicide prevention. The bill also states that men die of suicide at four times the rate of women and notes that men account for nearly 80 percent of suicides in the United States.

5. Cancer and chronic disease burdens are detailed

The findings list higher cancer mortality among men than women and include detailed statistics and projections for prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colorectal cancer. It highlights the disproportionate burden of prostate cancer among African American men. The findings also include diabetes, noting that many men have diabetes without knowing it, and that diabetes is associated with substantially higher medical expenditures.

6. The economic argument, prevention is cheaper than crisis

The bill includes an economic finding that premature death and morbidity in men impose large annual costs on federal, state, and local governments, as well as on employers and society. For legislators who prioritize fiscal responsibility, this is a direct argument that prevention and engagement are not simply moral goals, they are economic strategy.

Why a study plus an office is not fluff

Some critics hear the word study and assume delay. In health policy, a structured federal study plus a coordinating office is often how systems begin to change. H.R. 7602 uses the GAO report as a forcing function to inventory what the federal government already does, identify gaps, and recommend concrete improvements. It then creates a permanent owner inside HHS whose job is to coordinate, elevate, and measure men’s health outreach and outcomes.

This is not about creating a parallel health system. It is about ensuring there is sustained leadership to address the specific barriers that lead many men to delay preventive care, to avoid screening, and to present later with more advanced disease. The bill’s emphasis on male engagement is one of its most important features.

Bipartisan leadership and major medical backing

One of the strongest arguments for H.R. 7602 is that it is bipartisan in both sponsorship and coalition. The bill was introduced by Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr., a Democrat from Louisiana, and Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D., a Republican from North Carolina. That pairing matters. It lowers perceived political risk for other members and signals that men’s health is not a partisan wedge. It is a shared public health priority.

The bill is also supported by major medical and public health voices. The American Urological Association publicly endorsed the introduction of H.R. 7602 and described it as a landmark step toward improving men’s health outcomes and strengthening families. The American Medical Association has adopted policy encouraging the establishment of an Office of Men’s Health within the federal Department of Health and Human Services to coordinate awareness, outreach, and outcomes on men’s health. Men’s Health Network has endorsed the bill and is encouraging constituents and community partners to support its advancement.

This combination matters. Legislators respond to coalitions that include bipartisan sponsors, specialty medicine, organized medicine, and community health advocates. It signals both legitimacy and urgency.

Why the House Energy and Commerce Committee is the key arena

Because H.R. 7602 has been referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the most effective advocacy is targeted. The committee decides whether the bill gets a hearing, whether it is scheduled for markup, and whether it is reported out of committee. A bill with broad national benefit can still stall if the committee does not prioritize it.

If you care about seeing this bill move, your outreach should focus on committee leadership and on members who sit on the committee’s health related subcommittee structures, while also building broader support among non committee members who can influence leadership.

How to advocate effectively, what to ask for, and what to avoid

Most congressional offices triage messages quickly. That does not mean they do not care. It means staff must process large volumes of input. Your goal is to make your message easy to log and easy to act on.

Francesca is just a wave of misinformation, gender bias and performative advocacy; that combination is the last thing we should ever welcome in Washington, D.C. or inside our family courts. Public policy must be evidence based, child centered and transparent.

What we have here is the opposite, sweeping claims that erase male victims, a drumbeat of fear that treats shared parenting as a “scheme,” and a sales pitch that leans on authority by association rather than honest data. When advocacy starts by picking a villain and a favored class instead of starting with the facts, children lose, safe parents lose and public trust collapses. So, let me lay out what the federal data actually show, why gender biased framing harms victims of every sex, and how a bill marketed as “justice and accountability” would, in practice, make families less safe. We are not debating feelings here, we are comparing claims to the CDC and BJS record, and we are calling for reform that screens for real risk, protects every victim, and keeps courts focused on child safety and constitutional fairness, not on anyone’s failed brand with a revokes 501(c)4 status. Francesca should be more concerned about the alleged wire fraud she is committing and less concerned with her public masquerade.

Now, let’s debunk her recent post full of inaccurate information, gender-bias narrative and inappropriate correlations.

FALSE NARRATIVE -“Most violence, against both women and men, is committed by men.”

For overall violent crime, it is true that offenders are usually male. Recent Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) reports show that about three out of four violent incidents with a known offender involve a male offender, and incidents with male victims are most often committed by male offenders. That is community violence in general, not intimate partner violence inside the home, and using general crime patterns to erase male intimate partner victims is a bait and switch (1).

FALSE NARRATIVE -“Around 90 to 95 percent of male homicide victims were killed by men.”

Expanded homicide tables show that in recent years about 90 percent of male homicide victims were killed by male offenders. Again, this describes all homicides in public and private contexts, not the family court questions that revolve around intimate partner violence, coercive control, and child safety in the home (2).

FALSE -“Only about 6 percent of male homicide victims were killed by an intimate partner.”

Justice statistics have long noted that a relatively small share of male homicide victims are killed by an intimate partner, historically on the order of a few percent up to the high single digits depending on the year. That says almost nothing about the scale of nonfatal abuse men experience in relationships or the services they need in order to be safe fathers. Homicide shares are not a proxy for everyday coercion, assault, or stalking that land families in court (3).

FALSE – “Meanwhile, 85 to 90 percent of intimate partner violence victims are women.”

That framing is dated and incomplete. In older incident based crime series, women were the clear majority of identified intimate partner violence victims, often around 70 to 80 percent in some years. When you look at the CDC’s public health surveys that ask people directly about experiences, the picture is different. The CDC’s National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey reports that about one in three men in the United States have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime. That is millions of men, which is exactly why resources for male victims matter in policy and in court (3)(4).

FALSE -“Violence is not mutual. It is patterned. It starts with male perpetrated aggression.”

This skips over crucial CDC findings that do not fit the script. The CDC’s summary for men reports that among men who experienced rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner, the overwhelming majority identified female perpetrators, about ninety seven percent in the 2010 report on men. That is intimate partner violence, the kind of harm that drives safety planning and custody decisions. Ignoring that reality erases male victims and their children (4).

There is more the post leaves out. Same sex relationship data from the CDC show that intimate partner violence burdens do not line up with a simple men harm and women suffer story. Lifetime prevalence of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner was reported by about 43.8 percent of lesbians, 61.1 percent of bisexual women, and 35.0 percent of heterosexual women. For men, the figures were about 26.0 percent for gay men, 37.3 percent for bisexual men, and 29.0 percent for heterosexual men. These patterns show that gender alone does not explain intimate partner risk, which is why blanket gendered policy claims are not evidence based and why women can be primary aggressors in large numbers while male male relationships often report lower rates than heterosexual male relationships (6).

“VAWA saved lives.”

The period after the Violence Against Women Act was passed did see large declines in intimate partner violence in national data for both women and for men, which is good news. Congressional Research Service and BJS summaries document sustained declines but caution that national multi decade trends reflect many forces. The correct lesson is to invest in safety, evidence based services and accountability for all victims, not to ignore male victims in the present or to use a decline to justify one sided rhetoric now (3)(5). And that is exacting what Francesca Amato is doing in her recent Facebook rhetoric.

Now, about shared parenting. Calling equal shared parenting fake or claiming it ignores abuse is more rhetoric than research.

The peer reviewed consensus report by Warshak and 110 cosigners found that, when there is no substantiated abuse, shared residential arrangements and regular overnights with both parents are neutral to positive for children, and they help preserve the father child bond that is so easily eroded after separation. That is why many reformers support a rebuttable presumption with strong carve outs where credible evidence of violence or coercive control exists. Real reform protects children from abusers and preserves healthy bonds with both parents when both are safe (8). Additional syntheses find that advantages of joint physical custody persist across income levels and even in higher conflict cases when safety is not at issue, which further undercuts scare talk that paints shared parenting as a scheme rather than a child centered default that can be rebutted by evidence (9).

In my opinion, Francesca Amato and her defunct organization Punished 4 Protecting, Inc. oppose equal shared parenting because it undercuts a control based narrative that elevates one parent’s power over the other, not child centered solutions. Shared parenting, when both parents are safe and fit, protects kids by preserving bonds with both mom and dad, reduces conflict incentives and limits the ability of any adult to weaponize access. Framing fathers as the problem while pushing secrecy and fear only serves the person seeking leverage, not the child. That kind of posture looks less like advocacy and more like controling abuse, and courts tend to see through control driven behavior because it harms children and undermines stability. Hmm…maybe that’s why she lost custody of her own son.

What the same sex versus heterosexual data really show

These CDC findings tell us something Francesca refuses to admit. Women can be primary aggressors in large numbers. Lesbian couples report higher lifetime intimate partner violence than heterosexual women, and gay male couples report lower than heterosexual men. That pattern means the problem is not simply male aggression. It is relationship dynamics and coercive control. It is intimate partner violence that does not fit a single sex narrative.

The CDC also reports that among men who experienced intimate partner violence, roughly 97% reported female perpetrators, which directly contradicts the idea that male victimization is mostly male on male in the home.

On the female side, the vast majority of female victims report male perpetrators, which is real and serious, yet that truth does not erase the millions of male victims or the substantial female perpetration that shows up in both heterosexual and lesbian relationships. Put together, these federal data sets point to a reality that Francesca’s message tries to hide. Women are not immune from being perpetrators. Men are not disposable as victims or as fathers. Policy must protect every victim without using gender as a shortcut (4)(6).

Services for men are scarce, which is a policy failure

Even though the CDC acknowledges that millions of men are victimized by partners, services for men remain thin. State and academic reviews repeatedly find that male victims are less likely to seek or receive formal help, and that there are far fewer shelter beds and tailored programs for men than for women. That is a gap policymakers should close, not a reason to pretend those men do not exist. It is also one reason why fathers need a seat at the table when family court policy is written, funded, and audited (7).

What the full body of federal data actually says:

1. Men are overrepresented as offenders in overall violent crime and homicide, which happens largely outside family court contexts, but that does not negate the scope of male victimization in relationships or at home (1)(2).

2. In intimate partner contexts, the CDC’s own reporting shows millions of male victims and that the overwhelming majority of perpetrators against those male victims are female. That is directly relevant to custody, safety planning, and services (4).

3. Intimate partner violence does not map cleanly onto a single gendered narrative. The CDC sexual orientation findings underscore that risk patterns depend on relationship dynamics, not slogans, which is why policy must screen every case for actual risk regardless of sex (6).

4. Policy that pre judges fathers as the problem, while refusing transparency and smearing critics, will harm children by making it harder for male victims to be believed and helped. Policy should be child centered and evidence driven, not brand driven.

Bottom line

Francesca’s post mixes one kind of statistic, overall community violence, with another, intimate partner violence, and then treats them as interchangeable. They are not. The CDC and the BJS show that men are a significant share of intimate partner violence victims, that many are abused by female partners, and that outcomes for children are best when systems protect them from proven abusers and preserve strong bonds with both parents when both are safe. Fathers deserve evidence based policy, not gendered messaging. Families deserve transparent legislation, not secrecy and spin. Children deserve equal access to both parents when both parents are fit. If a bill cannot stand up to scrutiny without trying to silence people who cite the CDC and the BJS, it does not belong anywhere near federal reform.

Real reform puts children first, follows the evidence, and refuses to silence fathers or erase male victims to sell a narrative, and that is why we will keep pushing for transparent policy, rigorous risk screening, real services for every survivor, and equal shared parenting whenever both parents are safe and fit; families deserve truth over fear, clarity over spin, and a court system that protects kids and honors both parents, not a campaign built on misinformation and control, and I will continue to speak plainly, cite the data, and stand with good parents who are doing the hard work of raising healthy children in the light of day, not behind closed doors. So remember, in the midst of chaos, sparkle. Don’t let life dull your shine.
